In this post I’ll show you how to build an acrylic side table with a floating mahogany drawer in a mid century modern style. You could call this a side table, an end table, or a night stand. I used 3/4” acrylic to build this glass-like, almost invisible at times, piece. The floating drawer is made from mahogany, and it fits into the case perfectly. I used mitered joints reinforced with spline on the drawer construction. I wanted to make a mid century modern style piece, but use non traditional materials to create a completely different look. Acrylic is interesting material to work with, and the 3/4” thick acrylic cuts extremely well.
