Dremel-ize Your Life

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Home Depot. I am excited to announce that I have partnered with The Home Depot Prosepctive tool review program. I received all these tools for free, and I am paid for these posts, but these opinions are my own.

I’ll admit, I’m new to the Dremel game. When Home Depot sent me out this trio of Dremel tools to try I didn’t know what to expect. I’m used to bigger, heftier tools that take a beating in my workshop. Where my oscillating sander is a wood chewing beast, these Dremel tools are light, nimble, and surprisingly powerful. Today I’m covering the Dremel Lite, the Dremel 4V go, and the Dremel Versa. All three are cordless tools that feature USB chargers for added convenience. Let’s dive in!

Dremel 4V Lite Rotary Tool

I’ll call this one the gateway Dremel. This is the Dremel you buy for the aspiring tinkerer or DIYer that opens the door for their making journey. With Christmas not to far away this is the perfect tool to pick up several to give out as stocking stuffers. AS the name implies the Dremel Lite is lightweight and easy to use. It features 4 speed settings that range between 8,000 to 25,000 RPM’s. The Dremel Lite is compact and easy to hold comfortably for long periods of time. Changing accessories is easy, and this works with most of Dremel’s attachments.

So how does this factor into my workflow? To be honest its not a tool that I use often, but that’s the case for a lot of the tools I own. Where the Dremel Lite shines for me is having a cordless rotary tool for quick de-burring tasks or widening a hole in steel. Setting up a larger tool for these tasks would take much longer, and I like that the Dremel Lite is quick and ready to go. Now some quick hits:

  • Quick accessory changes without a wrench with the EZ twist nose cap

  • Speed adjustments from 8,000 to 25,000

  • Easy battery charging with the included USB charger

  • Battery life LED indicator light to notify you when the battery needs to charging

  • Can be used with most Dremel accessories and a selection of attachments

Dremel Go 4V

This tool now lives in my kitchen drawer. You know that drawer that everyone has that’s packed to the brim with batteries, tape, screwdrivers, and a 10 year old package of multi-colored toothpicks. I got rid of my odd assortment and added the Dremel Go in its place. This may seem like I’m tossing this tool aside, but the contrary is true! Why do we have this drawer of junk in the room we use the most?? Well, for me its because I rely on these items so much when needed that I want to always know exactly where they are! Enter the Dremel Go. It does one thing, and does it extremely well in a compact and easy to use tool. This little electric screwdriver works extremely well for such a compact tool. The push button start provides an impressive 360 RPMs of torque. It works just as well removing screws. The Dremel Go comes with commonly used Phillips head and flat head screwdriver bit sizes. Its completely cordless and just like the Dremel Lite uses a USB charger that’s included. This also makes a great birthday gift or stalking stuffer for everyone on your list. Now some quick hits:

  • Ergonomic design fits easily in a pocket

  • Starts with just a push of a button

  • 360 RPMs of torque

  • Reverse power mode - to drive and remove screws

  • Magnetic holder - for easy bit change

  • Includes: charger - micro USB to USB cable + USB outlet adapter, (7) Insert bits - PH1, PH2, H5, R2, S6, T20,

Dremel Versa

The Dremel that really surprised me. I hate cleaning. It’s not that I don’t enjoy having a clean home, but I’m too busy between my day job and Jonny Builds to give my home the proper scrub it deserves. I keep it tidy, but I’m definitely not a neat freak. I can’t tell you the last time I scrubbed the grout in my shower. Actually yes I can tell you. It was yesterday. With the Dremel Versa. The Dremel Versa takes everything that is handy about a Dremel tool and puts it into a compact little scrubbing machine. The handle is ergonomic and fits well in the hand. It’s fully rechargeable and cordless (I see a trend here), and also works off the same USB charger the Dremel Lite and Dremel Go do.

The Dremel Versa came with an included scrubbing pad and sponge that fit onto the velcro like holder. It also comes with a rubber boot that fits over the shaft and works as a splash guard for wet scrubbing. I put it to test on my shower tile grout, and the Versa made quick work of cleaning it up. I was able to do the whole job in one charge, but with the 2 hour recharge the Versa is back up and running in no time. They say this little tool is good for cleaning everything from glass to automotive wheels. Thats a ton of cleaning power packed into a compact and easy to use tool. And once again (you guessed it) this makes the perfect stocking stuffer. Spoiler alert; Christmas at the Jonny Builds house is going to be a lot of Dremel’s, haha! Now some quick hits:
