The Ultimate Tool Cabinet by Husky

Building out the Husky Dream Shop!

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by the Home Depot Prospective program, and I’ve teamed up with Husky Tools for the next year to highlight their tools and equipment. I chose all the tools I am highlighting based on my actual needs, and these opinions and use case scenarios are my own.

Husky Dream Shop Tools

For the rest of 2020 and into 2021 I’ll be building out the Ultimate Husky Dream Shop, and this project features the following Husky products each with an affiliate link to purchase.

Husky Industrial 52 in. 15-Drawer Tool Chest - Link to Buy

One of my main on going projects is to fully organize and streamline my workshop. This is for multiple reasons. First, nothing is more frustrating than searching for that tool that you have seen 100 times when you don’t need it, but its nowhere on the face of the planet when you do. Second, creating organization and efficiencies in your workshop/workflow saves time, lowers stress, and allows for more creativity. Last, a clean and organized shop looks good on camera, and since my job is creating videos this is extremely important. Like I mentioned I’ve partnered with The Home Depot’s Prospective Tool program. This year I was given the opportunity to partner with Husky Tools throughout the yearlong campaign and I jumped at it. Husky is the first brand I think of naturally when it comes to workspace storage solutions.

The Husky 52 inch 15 drawer tool chest arrived, and in less than an hour I had it assembled. This consists of attaching the 6 inch casters that can support up to 2500 lbs. Next the upper cabinet gets attached to the lower cabinet and I was up and running. (You definitely need a helping hand lifting this beefy tool chest).

My unit is the matte black version which is my favorite in the Husky line-up. This year’s model features a pull out work table that locks in the extended position. This has become my go to spot for doing laptop work in my shop. It’s basically a pull out standing desk workstation, and the best part is the work table pivots up to reveal a hidden storage drawer underneath. This is actually where I stash my laptop in the workshop when I leave for the day. The top section and lower section cabinet lock separately, but are keyed the same. On the left side of the upper cabinet is another drawer keyed with its own unique key for extra security. Having spent 12 years as a burglary detective in a past life I cannot stress enough how important it is to lock your tools up, and make it as difficult as possible for potential thieves.

The top of the tool cabinet hinges open on two gas struts revealing a storage shelf, 8 outlets, a magnetic tool holder, and an LED overhead work light. With 15 drawers of various sizes all my tools have a place, and the cluttered shop I formerly existed in is a thing of the past. Follow along on my YouTube channel Jonny Builds to see first hand how this tool cabinet has improved my workflow, and how it can improve yours.

There is no way around the fact this is a big ticket item. That said this 18 gauge steel tool cabinet is a legacy tool that will last you a lifetime and beyond. The usefulness, quality, and design justify the investment. Thanks for following along, and stay tuned for the next chapter in building out the Husky Dream Shop!
