You don’t have to go out and buy a specialty circular saw to cut metal. You just need one of these Diablo Steel Demon blades that come in multiple sizes and bushings to fit multiple arbors. With these blades you can cut steel studs, copper pipe, mild steel angle iron, flat bar, channel, and even plastics.

I’ll break down the three blades I received for review:

6.5.jpg

#1. Diablo 6 1/2 inch 48 Tooth Steel Demon Blade.

Link to buy.

Made for large 6 1/2 inch saws this steel cutting blade features carbide and titanium teeth that withstand impact and last longer. These blades are also what’s referred to as “cold cutting” meaning they don’t throw the spray of sparks and leave a rough edge like an abrasive wheel does. Not to mention that metal dust is nasty to breathe!

Quick Bits:

  • Efficiently cut through ferrous metals quickly and accurately, leaving clean, burr free cuts

  • Ideal for cutting steel studs, steel pipe, and steel sheet

  • Ideal for most mild steels under 1/8 in. thickness

  • Laser-cut stabilizer vents for reduced vibration and precise cuts

  • Durable Triple Chip Grind (TCG) tooth design for clean, chip free and long life cuts

  • Perma-SHIELD permanent coating prevents gumming and corrosion

  • Laser-cut thin kerf design gives fast, clean cuts

  • Covered by limited lifetime warranty

#2. Diablo 5 3/8 inch 30 Tooth Steel Demon Blade

Link to buy.

Much like the 6 1/2 Steel Demon this blade is for smaller saws and comes with bushings for multiple arbor sizes. This blade is optimized for use with cordless saws to give clean cuts on mild steel.

Quick Bits:

  • Diablo made TiCo hi-density carbide specifically designed for mild steel applications to provide

  • Durable triple chip grind (TCG) tooth design for clean, burr-free cuts for virtually no rework

  • Tri-metal shock resistant brazing allows metal cutting carbide tips to withstand extreme impact for maximum durability

  • Advanced laser cut thin kerf blade gives extremely fast, effortless cuts in cordless saws

  • Laser-cut stabilizer vents trap noise and vibration keeping the blade cool and reducing blade warp

  • Non-stick Perma-Shield coating reduces gumming, rusting and corrosion

  • Optimized for 1/2 in., 5/8 in., 10 mm and 20 mm cordless saws

  • Compatible with: Milwaukee (20 mm and 10 mm arbors), Bosch (20 mm arbor), Panasonic (20 mm arbor), Makita (5/8 in. arbor), Skil (5/8 in. and 1/2 in. arbor) and DeWalt (10 mm arbor)

  • Ideal for mild steels with 1/8 maximum wall thickness: steel studs, angle iron, channel, flat bar, EMT conduit

  • Ideal for mild steels, such as threaded rod, with 1 maximum diameter

#3 Diablo  5 1/2 inch 30 Tooth Steel Demon Blade

Link to buy.

Last of the bunch is this 5 1/2 inch 300 tooth steel cutting blade. This is just a smaller version of the 5 3/8 inch blade.

Maybe you aren’t doing a bunch of metal fabrication, but it’s always handy to have a blade for cutting through metal when you need it. These blades are each about $30 which is far cheaper than buying a metal chop saw. Not to mention much cleaner cuts!
