The Herringbone Woven Stool

Build Article on Instructables

I made a stool/chair out of maple hardwood, and the seat is woven 1 inch nylon webbing. I first saw this technique in a chair video where flat reed was used to weave the seat, and I thought, “I wonder if that will work with nylon webbing?” It worked extremely well. The stool itself is extremely sturdy with it’s hardwood construction, and thru-dowel joinery, but the woven seat is very strong and surprisingly comfortable. It has just enough flex to make it a chair you’d want to sit in for long stretches. Thanks for checking it out, and what would you like to see me build with this technique in the future? A full chair? A lounger? Let me know below!
